The Membership Director is accountable to lead all aspects of membership for the Greater Beverly YMCA, including recruitment, retention, and recapture of members as well as guiding our members through the continuum of involvement from casual to committed relationships. The position is critical to maintaining positive and accurate communication between staff and Y members and participants regarding information, offerings and mission. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead member recruitment and retain a high rate of current members by developing and implementing both local strategies and participating in association-wide initiatives.
  • Train, & supervise high-quality engagement and administrative staff and volunteers to meet the membership needs of the YMCA. 
  • Build relationships with YMCA members. Take care of member issues at point of contact and recruit the involvement of additional program directors as needed.
  • Participate in community organizations and events to establish professional relationships and increase the profile of YMCA, while recruiting members and volunteers. 
  • Develop and foster a culture of member engagement throughout the Y as a role model, supervisor and member advocate. Ensure the Welcome Center staff understand and are focused on member engagement.
  • Working with the Director of Operations, actively evaluate value-added services. Help develop action plans to increase membership value while maintaining fiscal integrity. Support new member benefits in Y programs, initiatives and services.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven success in a leadership role including management and supervisory experience
  • Ability to successfully multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to collect and analyze data and utilize it to develop innovative strategies for member engagement, retention and recruitment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the knowledge of a wide range of consumer service techniques to provide exceptional service to our members at all times
Compensation/Benefits: 

Generous Benefit Package includes - Cost shared health and dental insurance; Employer paid short and long term disability and life insurance; Retirement plan with 7% employer match: Substantial PTO allotment; Six paid holidays; five additional paid floating holidays; and YMCA Family Membership.

Salary: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00
