The Voice, Video and Event Services Technician is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, issue troubleshooting and maintenance of voice and video systems hardware and software.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Provide Tier II/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
- Upgrade and configure system software.
- Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
- Perform periodic metric reporting to support capacity planning.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
- Other duties as required.
Educational Background:
Two or four year degree with a technical major, a PLUS.
Skills/Experience:
- Two years system administration experience or relevant work experience.
- Experience with the following are a plus:
- Lync Server or Skype for Business Server.
- Office 365.
- Skype for Business including cloud phone services.
- Polycom Group Series video conferencing equipment.
- Polycom Sound Structure.
- Crestron Control Systems.
- Polycom VVX series voice handsets.
- AudioCodes Session Boarder Controller.
- Web Conferencing – Bluejeans, Webex, GoToWebinar, Zoom, Skype for Business Broadcast.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
- Knowledge of information technology systems equipment, software, and practices as it relates to the IT environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
- Travel to NACFC, VLC conferences, Board Meetings, and Chapter events/offices for technical support if necessary. Includes car, air and overnight stays.
- Ability to work in-excess of 40 hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needs arise.
