The position’s responsibilities will include preparation of financial statements, federal and state tax forms, audit requests and other financial reporting and ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Foundation policies and procedures.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Prepare Forms 990, 1099, W2-G, and other state and federal forms for timely filing with the IRS.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of key financial, purchasing and budget policies.
  • Ensure the propriety and accurate recordation of significant transaction activity in the accounting system.
  • Prepare the external financial statements for the Foundation and the 401(k) plan in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate and assist with audit preparation and response to inquiries.
  • Research proper accounting treatment of unusual and significant transactions.
  • Draft and update accounting policy memos, SOPs, and process narratives, as necessary.
  • Manage the adoption of new and emerging accounting standards including analyzing and documenting the standard and its impact on the Foundation and implementing changes needed to applicable business processes, accounting policies and reporting.
  • Review detailed monthly, quarterly and year-end financial activities for adherence to established budgets and proper recordation.
  • Provide regular internal reporting related to historical and projected transaction activity and analysis of financial results.
  • Prepare and provide regular reporting related to benchmarking, peer comparisons, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist in the maintenance of the accounting system, including creating and deploying new reports, account numbers/business units, and modifying reports, P&Ls.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as directed by the Director of Financial Reporting.
Educational Background: 
Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP acquired through completion of bachelor’s degree in accounting, with achievement of CPA required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible related work experience; experience in public accounting preferred; combination of requisite knowledge and experience needed to achieve excellence in financial reporting that is accurate, valuable and reliable.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with employees, consultants, department heads and senior management that also demonstrates a collaborative attitude towards the work.
  • System and analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve difficult system and ledger issues.Ability to problem solve that considers and identifies opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
  • Ability to concentrate and function in an organized and timely manner.
  • Ability to conceptualize in the accounting arena and apply good judgment while keeping in mind that people with CF are at the heart of all we do.
  • Ability to manage others in a respectful and effective manner that demonstrates caring for our people.
  • Financial accounting system experience and Microsoft Office skills needed.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Director of Financial Reporting.
  • Certain activities may be supervised and monitored directly by the VP of Finance or Controller.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • Travel to off-site training and conferences, including automobile and air travel, and overnight stays, as necessary.
