The position’s responsibilities will include analysis and documentation of financial transactions, preparation of accounting entries and regular performance of financial reconciliations to ensure that Foundation financial records are maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Foundation policies and procedures. The position also includes duties pertaining to the conduct of accounts payable and other finance department-related operations, such as purchase order review and generation, performance of unclaimed property procedures and certain internal financial reporting duties.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in monthly and annual financial statement closing activities by preparing journal entries, account analysis and performing account reconciliations.
- Conduct daily and monthly monitoring and reconciliation duties related to credit card revenues.
- Research proper accounting treatment of financial transactions.
- Draft and update accounting policy memos, SOPs, and process narratives, as necessary.
- Assist with analysis and preparation of transactions related to Finance Department’s budget and operations.
- Assist in the documentation and implementation of recently-issued accounting standards.
- Assist in the maintenance of the accounting system, including creating and deploying new reports, account numbers/business units, and modifying reports, P&Ls.
- Perform ad hoc projects as directed by the Controller.
Educational Background:
Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP acquired through completion of bachelor’s degree in accounting, with achievement of CPA required.
Skills/Experience:
- Approximately 3-5 years of progressively responsible related work experience.Experience in public accounting preferred.Combination of requisite knowledge and experience needed in order to achieve excellence in financial reporting that is accurate, valuable and reliable.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with employees, consultants, department heads and senior management that also demonstrates a collaborative attitude towards the work.
- System and analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve difficult system and ledger issues.Ability to problem solve that considers and identifies opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
- Ability to concentrate and function in an organized and timely manner.
- Ability to conceptualize in the accounting arena and apply good judgment while keeping in mind that people with CF are at the heart of all we do.Ability to manage others in a respectful and effective manner that demonstrates caring for our people.
- Financial accounting system experience and Microsoft Office skills needed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to Controller.
- Certain activities may be supervised and monitored directly by the VP of Finance, Director of Financial Reporting or Assistant Controller.
