The Senior Manager, Creative will be responsible for leading and managing the creative team, which specializes in print design, web design/development, digital communication, and multimedia.  While most staff are based in the CF Foundation’s Bethesda office, a few staff work remotely.  

The Senior Manager, Creative will (1) provide creative direction and quality control for a range of print and digital communications, including reports, advertisements, manuals, websites, videos, photos and keynote presentations; (2) advise CF Foundation’s subject-matter experts about effective visual communication formats and channels; (3) manage and help develop the skills of the creative team; (4) engage with internal and external stakeholders on projects as needed. This position is based on site in Bethesda, MD.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Working with partners in the Office of Communications and external partners, the Sr Manager, Creative will stay on top of the latest industry trends, exploring, recommending, and implementing creative methods to engage with various audiences and inspire creativity across the organization.

  • Manage and advocate for a thriving creative team comprised of Visual Communications Manager, multimedia manager, and a multimedia specialist.
  • Conceptualize, design, layout and/or provide creative direction for a variety of materials, including reports, advertisements, manuals, websites, videos, photos and keynote presentations.
  • Work alongside the creative team to further develop quality control protocols.
  • Support the professional development of the creative team, including ongoing feedback, coaching, and career support.
  • In conjunction with Visual Communications Manager and Multimedia Manager, provide creative direction to subcontractors, printing firms, or production companies.
  • Oversee project budgets and estimates.
  • Management and leadership.
  • Oversee management of brand guidelines and visual identity.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a management, supervisory and leadership capacity within a creative unit.
  • Fluency with print and digital design, brand development, video production, photography, and marketing.
  • Astute sense of effective business and communications principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Up to date with innovations in design, media, and technology.
  • Copywriting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience leading a successful creative unit.
  • Act as an institutional ambassador for the value of good design.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to thrive in a diverse, fast-paced organization.
  • Must demonstrate a solid portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and technical design skills.
  • Expertise in relevant design and/or coding programs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Senior Director, Marketing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust and temperature.
  • No heavy lifting required.
  • Moderate travel to support shoots as needed.
