The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - the world's leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, and one of the most innovative and successful organizations of its kind - is seeking a Manager, Contract Management in Bethesda, MD (HQ).  We are a nonprofit, donor-supported organization that has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help develop cystic fibrosis therapies that have changed the lives of people with this disease. Nearly every CF medicine available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

 The primary role of this position is to oversee the contract review and approval process for all national office and local CFF chapters contracts (Contracts).  The position will be responsible for reviewing Contracts via e-mail or workplace to ensure that CFF’s contractual requirements are captured for events and services to ensure compliance with CFF guidelines, policies and standards. The position will be required to  work with CFF’s legal counsel when necessary.  Supervision of junior contract management staff member may be required.  The position will be required to lead (and assist junior contract management staff with) negotiation of Contracts. The Position will be required to work with CFF insurance agent regarding  insurance requirements and insurance language and oversee the processing of special event insurance applications.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Contract Review – Responsible for flow of Contracts from initial submission/identification through to final signature. Duties include review of language, attention to insurance requirements and standards, negotiating and drafting contract language as appropriate to reduce CFF contractual risk and ensuring Contract compliance with applicable guidelines, policies and standards. Responsible for processing Contracts in a timely manner via My Workplace or other applicable system.
  • Customer Service and Confidentiality – Serves as a primary point of contact for Contract and insurance inquiries Duties involve frequent interaction with senior leadership and national and chapter staff.
  • Responsible for overseeing all Special Event Insurance applications. Ensure contractual obligations meet current insurance coverage. Serves as a primary point of contact between CFF staff and the insurance provider.
  • Filing,Records and reporting – Responsible for maintaining accurate and accessible files and records of all Contracts, insurance certificates. Provide detailed tracking and metric analysis to report on department performance, as required by supervisor and senior leadership.
  • Responsible for the oversight of Contract negotiations for junior contract management staff, as required.Four to eight years of relevant/comparable professional experience.
Educational Background: 
Four-year college degree, JD an advantage. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized ensuring timely and accurate work. 
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Initiative, follow-through, sound and accurate judgment with an ability to support and explain reasoning for decisions.  Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; and ensure timely decisions are made.
  • Extensive Contract negotiation skills and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office including Outlook, Word, Access and Excel. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a variety of senior leadership, employees and vendors. 
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong professional ethics, which include approaching others in a tactful manner; reacting well under pressure; treating others with respect and consideration, regardless of their status or position; accepting responsibility for own actions; following through on commitments and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Other responsibilities as required by supervisor.
