This position is responsible for the overall operation of the early learning childcare program, which includes but is not limited to supervising the staff and for planning, developing and implementing the YUSA Creative Curriculum. In addition to maintaining jurisdiction licensing regulations, health and safety of the children, the position is also responsible for ensuring program accreditation.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead and manage daily operations of a licensed childcare facility including before/ after school program and summer camp.
- Directly responsible for the day-to-day safety and well-being of all children enrolled in the program.
- Responsible for: budget compliance, staff supervision, interviewing parents, screening applicants, recruitment of staff, facilitation of in-service trainings, meetings and professional development for staff.
- Maintain files, records and statistical data.
- Prepares annual budget of the department for presentation to administration and periodic forecasting presentations.
- Insures appropriate staffing coverage with qualified teachers and teacher assistants.
- Develop and maintain connections with stakeholders to increase the ability of the program to thrive and grow.
- Execute sound administration and management in order to increase program quality and sustainability; promote financial accountability and viability.
- Demonstrate compliance with applicable laws, regulations, licensure, and accreditation.
- Develop and promote good community relations among local schools and organizations.
Educational Background:
a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, education, recreation or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
For position consideration, you must met the minimum qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience working in a licensed, certified, military, or tribal childcare program with substantial responsibility for development and delivery of program curriculum, supervision and staff training and development.
- Must have the following clearances upon hire: Drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, Tuberculosis (TB) test, CPR/First Aid Certification.
Essential Functions
- The essential functions for this position are to develop high quality Early Learning center with efficiently and professionally trained staff.
- Create a system to ensure staff evaluations and required hours of training are completed annually. Prepare and manage the annual budget for the Early Learning center.
- Maintain accountability for the budget given to the site, and ensure 80% enrollment, accurate payments and registrations. Receive no less than 75% on YMCA internal audits/site visits with score improving annually.
- Work with staff team to understand YMCA Child Care Standards. Correct all non-compliances within a 6 month period of original site visit date or less if specified.
- Plan, supervise, and implement all aspects of Creative Curriculum and Creative Curriculum GOLD. Plan special events and parent-child events during the year.
- Attend all YMCA Youth Development Service Team Meetings monthly. Hosts 2 parent holiday celebrations per/year. Hosts Open House every September.
- Hosts 4 Family Nights per year. Assume a leadership role in Healthy Kids Day. Support the program goals of the YMCA as a whole and the branch in particular.
- Organize and maintain the parent committee that meets, at least 4 times per year. Seeks, maintains and actively prepares for NAEYC Accreditation.
- Maintain site in compliance with licensing requirements at all times.
- Monitor county and state child care activities and keeps abreast of current trends in the field.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $41,700.00 - $46,700.00
