Under the direction of the Senior Aquatics Director and consistent with the Mission of the YMCA, the Aquatic Safety Director is responsible for supervising all aspects of aquatic safety operations including lifeguard staffing and supervision, scheduling, training on-deck supervision, quality assurance and member interaction.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Leads and trains the lifeguard staff team utilizing all Ellis & Associates standards, audits and compliance.
- Schedules and leads in-service trainings for lifeguards.
- Leads the aquatics team in safety and risk management.
- Ensures the aquatic experience is safe, fun and enjoyable for members and program participants.
- Works hands-on with aquatic programs when needed and fulfills general building director duties as assigned.
- Other duties, as necessary.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Two years or more of YMCA leadership experience or related experience within another organization preferred.
- Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred. Lifeguard certification required.
- Proven skills in staff leadership and supervision, safety and risk management expertise, and relationship building is needed to be successful in this position.
- Seeking a team player who is flexible with work schedule as evening and weekend coverage is required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $40,000.00
