Under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, the Advanced Youth Development Director will provide hands-on leadership for Camp UMLY (more than 500 camp children daily) and provide oversight of our Sports, Teen and Outreach programs.  The Advanced Youth Development Director will support and supervise the Regional Sports Director, Teen and Outreach staff, the Assistant Camp Director and camp seasonal staff in their efforts to exceed revenue and meet expense targets, provide the best member experience and provide quality programming. This position requires an active role in the Annual Campaign.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Effectively communicates the mission, vision and values of the YMCA.
  • Supports the development and oversight of departmental budgets.
  • Ensures high-quality and safe programs through innovative program development, program evaluation, and on-going staff training.
  • Ensures the Y mission and character development values are incorporated into programs.
  • Ensures the overall growth of designated programs, specifically, Camp UMLY and our growing Sports, Teen and Outreach programs.
  • Provides hands-on leadership for Camp UMLY.
  • Recruits, trains and manages direct reports.
  • Supports direct reports in recruitment, training and management of department staff.
  • Knowledgeable on all risk management procedures and policies and helps implement branch compliance.
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with all staff, parents and participants.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience required. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA leadership experience in camp and/or youth development programs preferred. 
  • YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred. 
  • Three or more years of experience that includes supervising large camp programs required. 
  • Superior relationship building, computer proficiency, communication and organizational skills are essential to succeed in this position. 
  • Must be available to work weekdays, weekends and evenings.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $47,500.00 - $52,000.00
