Under the direction of the CEO, the Building & Grounds Director supports the cause of our YMCA and is responsible for managing the operation of facilities and providing coordination and supervision of all facility maintenance and repairs including mechanical equipment, general and preventive maintenance, janitorial services (contracted) and other building systems required to deliver clean, safe and efficient facilities to our community.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and plans the total operation of facilities and grounds,
- Conducts a wide variety of maintenance programs including preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs and general repairs resulting in high-quality facilities.
- Supervises contracted services including facility cleaning and custodial services
- Ensures facilities are operated under all applicable codes.
- Prepares and administers annual department budget.
- Participates in the development of capital plans.
- Manages facility security including keys, cameras and all alaarm systems.
- Negotiates vendor pricing to insure efficient stewardship of YMCA resources.
- Maintains supply inventories.
- Maintains pool according to standards of temperature and chemistry.
- Completes maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate data for effective department opertions.
Educational Background:
Associate degree or technical training in a construction related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Broad skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general maintenance and repairs and mechanical systems.
- Previous experience in facility and property management. Aquatic facility management experience highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to develop and manage department budget.
- Must have, or have the ability to obtain, Certified Pool Operator and other necessary certifications required by law. Understanding of federal, state and local compliance regulations related to facility operation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work various hours to complete projects in the best interests of the YMCA.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including climbing ladders, walking or standing for long periods of time. Must possess the visual and hearing acuity to perform the essential functions of the position. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and ability to work while frequently standing, stooping, bending and kneeling. Ability to operate a large variety of hand tools and indoor and outdoor power equipment.
- Knowledge of safe handling techniques for a wide variety of chemicals.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $37,000.00 - $41,000.00
