350.org is looking for a skilled and digitally savvy short-term Digi-Comms organiser to support the German team’s digital organising and communications around key campaigns and activities from the beginning of June until late September. This is a part-time role.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Support the production and editing of digital campaigning and organizing content, e.g. blogs, email blasts, social media posts.
- Produce or source images and simple visuals like memes or slideshow videos.
- Coordinate the translation of content into German and English and proofread texts.
- Support preparing and posting content on social media for German channels, including live-coverage as needed.
- Monitor social media, mailing and online action reach and performance.
- Provide ideas, content or coordination support for key digital media and storytelling projects.
- Support the amplification of the Fossil Free network’s and partners’ content.
- As needed, media outreach to German and international media, and drafting and editing of press releases.
Skills/Experience:
- Some experience in digital organising and campaigning – whether as part of non-governmental organisations, grassroots networks, or other groups.
- Experience producing rapid response and regular online content and developing new resources.
- Familiarity with some of the digital tools used by 350.org (ActionKit, Action Network, ControlShiftLabs, Wordpress, Slack, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Animoto, Buffer, Tweetdeck etc.) or experience/proven aptitude for working with similar digital tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with fluency in German and English. Ability to write for a variety of audiences and platforms.
- Basic graphic design skills (eg. using Canva or Photoshop).
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in planning content calendars, and creating, monitoring and curating content for various social media channels.
- Writing effective blogs and mass emails.
- Understanding of digital storytelling and how to create compelling digital content.
- Familiarity with the climate movement and the Fossil Free network in Germany.
- Comfortable working independently, in a distributed team, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural context.
- Comfortable working with colleagues remotely via messaging apps including Slack, Zoom and Skype, conference calls, and other online tools.
