This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA camp, teens and family programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates all camp, teen and family activities. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Program includes a 300 plus Summer Camp, Leaders Club, Middle School United Nations, Teens Changing Gaston County, etc.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures each program operates within budget.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Leads assigned aspects of the Annual Giving Campaign.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
  • Serves as biweekly Manager on Duty.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two to three years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of youth programs.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Knowledge of the developmental needs of youth/teens.
  • Excellent personal computer skills.
  • Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed.
  • CDL required within 6 months of hire.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00
