More than 2,900 households are active members at the Bellevue Family Y. Our Bellevue Family Y has been serving the Eastside for more than 50 years, and our new Associate Executive will focus on continued Membership Growth through Community Engagement, ensuring our Y is FOR ALL.

The Eastside is growing and diverse, with increasing density and 30% of Bellevue and Redmond residents born outside the United States. The Eastside is thriving - home to businesses like Microsoft, Expedia, Google, Paccar, PSE and more. The Eastside needs our Bellevue Family Y to keep innovating and serving the changing needs of our community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide leadership that grows Facility Membership at the Bellevue Family YMCA past 3,200 households annually (@ 2,900 Oct 2018) through strategies including Community Engagement, Program Development, Member Experience Improvement and use of our Income Based Pricing.
  • Supervise & support operational staff teams that deliver quality programs and services daily for members at the Bellevue Y.
  • Connect with communities in Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland to understand & address changing local needs through programs & services at our Bellevue Y facility.
  • Have fun in a fast-paced, highly committed team of staff & volunteers, with future opportunities for responsibilities and growth throughout the YMCA of Greater Seattle.

Essential Functions

  • Directs and manages the development, operations and growth of Membership, Health & Wellness, Recreation, Aquatics and Family Programs at the Bellevue Family Y
  • Leads Membership team to ensure welcoming and responsive experiences for new and existing members
  • Provides development and leadership to a team of direct reports and within the larger branch staff. Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates and supervises assigned staff and volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program(s) within the facility in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans.
  • Provides leadership and support for branch management team, annual fund raising campaign, and volunteer committees/boards as assigned.
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
  • Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs in accordance with branch marketing plans.
  • Ensures that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with YMCA standards, all regulations and other applicable standards.
  • Develops and manages the budgets related to the position. Meets fiscal objectives. Closely monitors revenue and expense.
  • Ensures upkeep of related facilities and equipment.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program(s).
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in recreation, human services, management, or a related field, or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five or more years of experience in supervising or directing programs as a program and/or center director.
  • Experience in community outreach, marketing, program development, financial development, volunteer development, staff supervision, and fiscal management.
  • Experience in managing assigned program areas preferred.
  • YMCA Senior Director preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
