The Bellefonte Branch of the YMCA of Centre County is seeking a Wellness Director.
The Wellness Director is responsible for the direction, operation, and supervision of the Wellness Department, it's staff, and all related facilities, which includes the Front Desk staff at our Annex Facility.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Perform 10 to 15 hours of direct service per week.
- Responsilbe for overseeing land exercise classes, personal training, Annex Facility, and all related staff.
- Implement a full range of fitness and athletic programs to meet the needs of the members and the surrounding community, including innovative means of serving the underserved and underprivileged segments of the community. This includes, but is not limited to, developing special events/challenges within the area of Wellness as well as recreational adult leagues.
- Through efficient allocation of faciity and human resources, contribute to membership growth and retention of the YMCA at large, placing the needs of the Y members as a key priority at all times.
- Select, train, evaluate, and retain staff and volunteers to provide appropriate services to the community as trainers, coaches, and instructors. Enforce all personnel policies and guidelines in accordance with association policies. Evaluate staff annually.
- Create work schedules for all employees you supervise as well as approve their timecards for bi-weekly for payroll.
- Assure positive communication is occurring between staff and members.
- Develope, manage, and monitor the Wellness Department budget to meet or exceed budget goals.
- Participate as a vital part of the YMCA staff to include sharing responsibility as building supervisor, participation in special events and fundraising campaigns, and shared leadership duties as assigned.
- Work with staff and volunteers to help plan, train, motivate, and oversee the Annual Giving Campaign to reach or exceed the campaign goal. Demonstrate sound campaign practices by implementing good practices and proven concepts.
- Assume equal responsibility for all housekeeping expectations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
BS in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or closely related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years professional work experience.
- Must possess a minimum of the YMCA Trainer Certification and YMCA Group Exercise Certification or a NSCA or ACSM certification.
- Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
- Mandated Reporter Training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and every 5 years thereafter.
- CPR/First Aid Certification must be kept current.
- ACT 139 Training for First Responders - Naloxone Training within the first 90 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,000.00 - $35,000.00
