The Senior Development Program Manager leads one functional team or activity within a development program. The Manager will be responsible for providing resources such as research, gift processing, stewardship, special events, or trips to a field program or within a WO Development department.
The Senior Development Program Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and coordinating tactics for approved plans, and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. They listen for opportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such as planned gifts and trade lands. They involve appropriate partners in the field and staff at the Worldwide Office, keeping them apprised of interactions, issues or concerns, and direct questions as appropriate. They are capable of featuring the programs of the Conservancy in broad terms. They may be responsible for volunteer engagement within formal and/or informal networks. They will manage guidelines and analyze factual information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems. They will report to leadership on activities. The Manager must be an expert in the systems and resources utilized by the team; applies knowledge to managing support and designing communications related to the resources. They will develop documentation, modify processes, and participate in the enhancement of systems and tools used by the team. The Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services. They will manage diverse tasks, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions in order to improve effectiveness. They will also be required to use the Conservancy’s database and may participate in the development of proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

- Manage and implement multiple projects, including managing budget, setting deadlines and ensuring accountability.
- May manage or participate in complex negotiations.
- Persuasively convey the mission of TNC to diverse groups who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
- May supervise one or more administrative or professional staff, responsibility includes training and professional development.
- Travel frequently and on short notice, work long and flexible hours as needed.
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
- Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
