The next Aquatics Director/Head Swim Team Coach will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our Aquatics Department, including its high-quality programs and competitive swim team.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Responsible for enhancing, developing and managing the YSWV swim team (in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming), School Swim League Program, and the RCA Summer Swim Program.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, American Red Cross and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Creates and schedules swim classes and swim team practices and meets.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- 2+ years experience as a competitive swimmer.
- 2+ years coaching experience preferred.
- USA Swimming Coach and Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming certifications (Must be completed within 90 days of hire).
- Certifications: WSI, Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First-Aid.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills in accordance with the YMCA standards and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and their parents.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff and Working with Program Volunteers.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary :$32,000.00 - $37,000.00
