With over a century of dedication to character development, Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA creates life-changing experiences for children, adults and families. Located on 1,350 beautiful acres in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Camp Becket for Boys and Chimney Corners Camp for Girls are four-week rustic resident camps with rich traditions and commitment to character and leadership development. Our Travel & Service Programs offer a unique life experience to teens and our Berkshire Outdoor Center offers a wide-range of year-round programs for individuals, families and groups.
Board Expectations: Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA seeks an experienced leader who has the requisite background and skills in the following areas:
- Effectively Communicate and Develop Relationships with the Entire BCC Community, including Staff, Campers and other Program Participants, Parents, Alumni, Service Partners, Board and Donors: The CEO is our communicator in chief and sets the tone for all the relationships in our community. The new CEO will have to develop positive relationships with all aspects of our community.
- Respect and Cultivate Established BCC Traditions: BCC prides itself on long-held traditions, which have evolved over time to reflect our community’s needs. The new CEO must have a healthy respect for those traditions, and understand how to adapt, honor and expand them when appropriate as BCC moves into the future.
- Continue to Improve Operating Performance and Institute Best-Practices: We are proud of the excellent performance of our programs, and adherence to best practices in all areas of safety, welfare and program quality. The new CEO will have to ensure that we continue to maintain and improve upon those high standards and stay abreast of all performance-related developments.
- Recruit, Retain and Develop Diverse Staff: Superb staff has been key to BCC’s success and endurance. The new CEO will be responsible for leading all staff recruitment and development efforts, ensuring a work place culture of excellence.
- Lead Development of Organizational Strategic Plan for Future: Every organization should have a plan for the future, and BCC is no exception. The new CEO will guide the development of the next strategic plan for BCC in collaboration with board, staff and stake holders.
- Develop and Implement Efforts to Increase Diversity: BCC strives to reflect the community it serves and the world at large. The new CEO will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to further increase BCC’s commitment to diversity and inclusion including but not limited to socio-economic and racial diversity.
- Lead Fundraising Efforts: Our community has generously supported BCC through the years. The new CEO will need to continue our history of stewardship and cultivation so as to ensure that our community support remains strong and grows.
- Oversee Budget and Finances: BCC stands on solid financial footing, with an annual operating budget in excess of $11 million, and an endowment in excess of $10 million. The new CEO will need to safeguard our continued fiscal responsibility.
- Minimum ten (10) years prior experience in a senior leadership role with a camp or comparable organization.
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (currently, or to be obtained within three (3) years of employment).
Salary Range: $160,000-$175,000 per year (salary commensurate with experience).
