Responsible for the supervision of school-age childcare for after school care programs as well as summer camp programs.
The Childcare Director is responsible for the supervision of school-age childcare for 8 school site after school care programs as well as 2 summer camp programs. This position currently supports childcare and camp programs at two branches. This position assists in general member participation and retention through assisting in the development and execution of school-age childcare and summer camp programs to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding member service to all participants. Responsible for implementing youth/teen achievers’ program. This position will be accountable for the overall quality, maintenance, and safety of every aspect of the above program areas.

- Lead in the implementation of all school-age childcare and summer camp programs for two branches' after school care sites and summer camps; including the development of new programming.
- Responsible for implementing youth/teen achievers’ program.
- Provide oversight of facility rentals and other Y programming at the Baranco-Clark YMCA.
- Supervise department staff and ensure they are always following all safety and policy regulations. Lead staff to support program initiatives to achieve retention goals.
- Lead the recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing of personnel and volunteers as needed. Assists in the reviews and evaluation of staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Perform program duties, instruction and direction of programs as scheduled, or in order to provide substitution coverage.
- Maintain accurate schedules and procedures to provide maximum opportunities for member/staff connections. Collaborate with department leads to maximize enrollments in program registration and usage.
- Coordinate and schedule facility and equipment maintenance and repairs. Purchase equipment, parts and supplies approved by the purchase requisition process.
- Monitor daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA of the Capital Area health and safety standards and policies. Ensure all staff is current with required certifications. Maintain compliance with required documentation as it relates to programs.
- Utilize available technology, reporting tools and data that enhance participation and member retention.
- Lead in the planning and execution of school-age childcare and summer camp events at the designated branches. Promote the branch and the YMCA of the Capital Area’s special events among the members and community.
- Identify active volunteers for the branches Annual Fundraising Campaign
- Provide understanding of the mission of the YMCA of the Capital Area to staff and members. Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of the Capital Area in the branch and its programs.
- 1 - 3 years’ experience in related field required.
- YMCA operations experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required; Personify software experience a plus.
Salary: $40,000.00
