This position develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA before and after school child care programs at a total of 5 school sites in the towns of Brunswick, Bath & Woolwich. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall experience.
The School Age Coordinator must be available to coordinate programming during the YCare operation hours 6:30am-9:30am; 2:30-5:30pm, M-F during the school year and M-F during summer. This position is full-time year-round; benefits eligible.
- Coordinates the before and after school YCare program, out of school day YCare and summer day camp.
- Visits school sites daily and be a consistent support to YCare staff and youth enrolled in program.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing personnel and volunteers.
- Coordinates YCare staff schedules, time off requests and site coverage; provides site coverage as needed.
- Communicates (in person, phone or email) with parents/caregivers of children enrolled in programs regarding behavioral or safety issues.
- Coordinates and prepares snack for after school programming according to program standards.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Maintains proper records/department files and assists with monthly staff meetings.
- Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
- Minimum age requirements may apply; minimum age of 21.
- Requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program specific certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Salary: $28,000.00 - $32,000.00
