Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Member Engagement, the Fund Development Director shall develop, plan, administer, manage and coordinate the execution of the comprehensive financial development efforts of our Y including annual, capital, major and planned gifts programs. This Full-Time, hourly position is responsible for supporting a strategic plan that develops a greater understanding of the nature of the Y resulting in increased philanthropy supporting broad participation in Y donor programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Direct the development and execution of the comprehensive financial development efforts of the Association including annual, capital, major and planned gifts. This includes prospect research and development, donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship.
- Implement outreach efforts to alumni, friends, parents, donors, and media.
- Manage donor and alumni information, maintaining accurate files for all prospects utilizing our donor database software tools.
- Act and support the Association leadership as an ambassador to the community, identifying and giving skilled presentations to various groups.
- Participate as an active member of appropriate Association meetings, events and trainings as deemed appropriate by the Senior Director of Member Engagement.
- Fundraising: with the support of the Senior Director of Member Engagement, this position is a leader in the organization of the Annual Campaign, year-round communication to existing and potential donors, support in the creation of Campaign materials and levels of donor giving, recruitment of and volunteer training, recognition, and planning fundraising events.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and training to volunteers and staff to carry out fundraising responsibilities.
- Develop and train staff and volunteers on key messages and articulation of the Y's impact in strengthening the foundations of community.
- Seek out grant opportunities for program development. Maintain current grant application relationships (ex: Community Foundations, Co-Op).
- Lead community and corporate volunteer efforts that embrace collaboration and foster community partnerships and outreach.
- Other duties assigned as necessary by the Senior Director of Member Engagement.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in administration, development, communications, marketing, public relations or a similar field.
Skills/Experience:
- More than 2 years of experience is required in a field that requires the above skills and knowledge. Previous experience in endowments, annual campaigns and/or capital campaigns preferred.
- Technical skills include strong written and verbal communications skills, knowledge of member relations system and/or database, proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance basics.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, including successful experiences preparing and delivering materials and presentations, campaign cause, and/or complex topics that influence decision makers at high levels of foundations, government, corporations, and community organizations across diverse communities.
Compensation/Benefits:
Hourly: $15.00 - $20.00
