Under the guidance of the Branch Executive, the Program Director is responsible for the organization, delivery and quality of YMCA program(s) to the membership, program participants and community. All programs must incorporate the 40 developmental assets and the five core values of the YMCA while focusing on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. This individual is responsible for the direct supervision of the Sports, Youth and Family Programming and the operations of the main office, the initiation and implementation of new programs, Aquatics with seasonal pool, the training and supervision of necessary staff, and the evaluation and modification of these initiatives. This position works independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks.
The member relations aspect of this position requires that relationship building be a top priority at all times, attending to the needs and requests of health seekers, members, and all people associated with the YMCA in a courteous and friendly manner.
Safety:
- Develop, review, and distribute rules, guidelines and handbooks for all programs.
- Monitor facility for risk-management, safety concerns and ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Monitor daily program operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Conduct and ensures proper maintenance of pools and facility.
- Perform lifeguard and swim instructor duties as required.
- Develop and implement an ongoing equipment preventive maintenance program.
- Ensures proper supervision of children in programs.
- Ensure waivers and appropriate risk management paperwork is complete for all participants
Programs:
- Create yearly and seasonal sport schedules to ensure timely delivery of all services
- Secure and schedule athletic fields and facilities.
- Create teams from paid and financially assisted registrations.
- Develop and distribute team practice and game schedules.
- Purchase, maintain and distribute all materials for programs and events.
- Organize and host season parties and events.
- Organize and conduct sports clinics.
- Work with participants in all sports to identify and develop new and emerging sport leagues.
- Work with branch and association staff to promote registration of all sport activities.
- Coordinate registration and participation in program related conferences.
- Schedules and organizes specific program meetings and activities.
- Develops and distributes program calendar and newsletter for programs.
- Ensure program information is complete and up to date in member services system, online and in print format at all times.
- Communicate all programming and events via social media, online and through all intra-branch and inter-branch methods available.
- Creates and schedules informal education classes; including, but not limited to: tumbling, dance, martial arts, fine arts, etc.
- Provides timely communication to staff, participants, and participant’s guardians.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises part time and non-exempt employees and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Recruits, trains, and develops non-exempt and part time program staff.
- Conducts performance appraisals, rewards and discipline.
- Monitors and updates all required staff certifications.
- Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Establish and maintain file/data management schedule and record keeping.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Organize and conduct parent orientation meetings
- Organize and conduct training and meetings for staff.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers from the local legal and government communities.
- Hires, schedules and monitors class instructors.

- Experience- At least 2 years of professional experience including experience hiring and coaching employees. Previous YMCA experience preferred.
- Certifications - AED/CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of member relations system and/or database.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance basics.
- Must assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work product.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet deadlines.
- Must collaborate with outside organizations to achieve organizational goals.

Salary: $37,000.00 - $42,000.00
