This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality youth to adult sports programs. Directs sports promotion, retention and program activities. Oversees and develops the sports department and programs, including staff supervision, budget management and planning.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises new program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands youth and adult sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness and participation of programs.
- Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; working nights and weekends is required.
- Monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
- Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings.
- Organizes and conducts sports clinics.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, may organize and schedules program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
- Provides leadership and support for branch management team, annual fund-raising campaign, and volunteer committees/boards as assigned.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Develops and manages the budgets related to the position. Meets fiscal objectives.
- Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs.
- Compiles and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with branch marketing plans.
- Ensures that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with YMCA standards, all relevant regulations and other applicable standards.
- Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development evaluations and ongoing training of staff, coaches.
- Ensures upkeep of related facilities and equipment.
- Assists the YMCA in fund raising activities and special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21.
- Typical requirements within 60 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff: Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certification
- Expierence with program design, development implementation and retention.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $28,000.00 - $32,000.00
