The Aquatics Coordinator works closely with the Aquatics Director to provide safe, engaging programs. There is a strong commitment to safety, as well as to creating innovative aquatic programs.  The best candidate will have current lifeguard certifications and a willingness to be trained in YMCA swim lesson instruction. This position is a hands-on job with most hours spent lifeguarding, teaching swimming and supervising staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure that all aquatic programs meet established safety requirements at all times.
  • Assist in the recruitment of qualified aquatic staff
  • Teach YMCA swim lessons
  • Lifeguard 
  • Work with the director to develop staff schedules
  • Work with the director to develop and coordinate pool schedules.
  • Help to facilitate registration process.
  • Obtain and maintain program supply inventory and disburse to instructors.
  • Recruit, train and evaluate staff as needed.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules.
  • Adhere to all establish health, safety and risk procedures in order to create and maintain a safe work environment for participants.
  • Work with the Program Director to market aquatic programs.
  • Responsible for attending staff meetings/events. Demonstrate and teach the Character Development values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
  • Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA to develop team spirit and family atmosphere.
  • Maintain good public relations with members, programs participants, and their families; direct all major problems to supervisor.
  • Be a member service ambassador, remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules; being prepared to provide personalized direction to other services.
Educational Background: 
High School (GED) required

Certifications / Training:

  • YMCA Lifeguard Certification or equivalent
  • State Lifeguard Non surf Certification
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate (including 2 man and pocket mask use)
  • YMCA Aquatic Instructor Certification or equivalent
  • YASA- YMCA Aquatics Safety Assistant
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $13.00 - $15.00
