Oversees the development and operations of camp and school age child care programs in the Upper Cape and Camp Lyndon rentals.  Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote programs and growth for the YMCA.  
  • Directs, schedules, and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.  Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises staff and volunteers.  Reviews and evaluates performance.  Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.  Ensures staff certifications are current while maintaining accurate records.  Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
  • Responds to all member/family and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Work with Association Property and Facilities Director to ensure all equipment, facilities and properties are maintained and report maintenance and equipment needs and repairs. 
  • Manage and promote Camp Lyndon Rental program.
  • Provides oversight to all waterfront activities working collaboratively with the Aquatics Department to ensure all activities are safe.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, local department of public health agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies.  Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety and risk management procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for developing, managing, and controlling assigned department budgets.  Work directly with finance department on collections of program fees.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committee(s) as assigned.  Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Assists with grant development and related expenditure tracking and reporting.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provides data and reports as required.
  • Maintains required certifications.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.  Completes reports as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  •  If equivalent education, must have one year of experience working with school age children.
  • Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and meet at least one of the following: (1) Have successfully completed a course in camping administration such as those offered by national professional camping associations, national agencies, or their equivalent, or (2) Have at least two seasons previous experience as part of the administrative staff of a recreational camp for children.
  • Six months of administrative experience or evidence of satisfactory completion of 9 credits in management or administration subject areas from an accredited institution of higher education.  
  • Previous experience and knowledge in areas of camping, recreation, youth work, family programming, workshop design and delivery, experiential education, environmental education and adventure-based counseling is required.
  • Knowledge of computer systems.  Proficient in all standard business software, excel, word, and outlook; Microsoft office preferred.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising. 
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR, Basic First Aid, and AED.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $57,000.00 - $71,000.00
