The YMCA Cape Cod is seeking a team oriented leader to develop, organize and implement high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatics and waterfront programs. This position recruits, trains and supports assigned staff and develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs, schedules, and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Supervises and establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures staff certifications are current while maintaining accurate records. Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
- Monitors daily pool and waterfront operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety and risk management procedures are followed.
- Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools as assigned. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Maintains required certifications.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes reports as necessary.
Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- One year related experience as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
- Minimum of two years’ practical experience providing swim instruction and lifeguarding.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
Required Certifications
- Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED, and lifeguard and swim instruction trainer.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or “POOL” license within 120 days of employment.
Compensation/Benefits:
$43,631.00 - $54,539.00
