The Bangor Region YMCA is searching for a motivated Fitness Center Manager. The right person for this position would possess impeccable personal and group training skills, be dedicated to delivering a high-quality member experience that leads to our members feeling empowered and encouraged. In addition they would be able to build a dedicated team of trainers that can deliver the same high level customer service. Our Fitness Center Manager is responsible for maintaining both fitness centers, managing our Cardiac Rehab Program and our Livestrong at the YMCA program. The Fitness Center Manager works closely with the Group Fitness Manager. Some group fitness instructing is required. Preferably TRX and some strength training programs.
- Directs and supervises personal training sessions, small group training sessions and programs that take place in the fitness centers to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personal trainers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
- Assists the Group Exercise Manager with program coverage for classes.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Acts as a role model for the values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in dealings with staff, members, and children.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
- in programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Two years in a fitness management roll is preferred but would consider significant experience, possession of the above mentioned skills and qualities, and a current personal training certification through either ACE or ACSM.
