Teach For America Baltimore seeks an analytical, detail-oriented, project manager to ensure the team is on a path to meet our long-term vision. The Manager of Knowledge Management and Operations will support the development of regional strategy through collecting, communicating and planning for the impact of our growing network of corps members and alumni, projected to reach 1,700 people in the next five years.

The Manager, Knowledge Management and Operations will provide high-level support to create a culture of collective leadership and alignment to the regional vision and strategic direction for the Baltimore region.  They will influence several regional initiatives including: creating and maintaining regional knowledge management and supporting operations for our region.

The Manager, Knowledge Management and Operations will research team members’ greatest knowledge needs and discover where that knowledge resides. They will support our region with upcoming innovations, lessons learned, and historical and institutional knowledge. The Manager, Knowledge Management and Operations will constantly and consistently think about how we can make our regional impact faster and more efficient. Ultimately, this person will drive the region’s collective effort in transforming the region to a learning organization. 

The Knowledge Management and Operations staff member reports to the Senior Managing Director, Network Engagement.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

Knowledge Management (45%)

  • Develop and execute on a knowledge management strategy across the Baltimore Regional team
  • Manage and evolve the team’s knowledge management infrastructures and processes (Google sites, Google drive, Box folder, Slack, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with other national and regional teams to adopt and standardize key knowledge management practices including, but not limited to, after-action reviews, knowledge mapping, events capture, etc.
  • Develop your own knowledge and expertise by continuously growing in organizational knowledge and best practices for the field of knowledge management

Cross-Department Planning and Operations (40%)

  • Partner with regional team members to assess and learn their obstacles to achieving our goals and co-create solutions that push forward Teach For America-Baltimore’s priorities and ensures alignment between team resources and connection to accomplishing regional goals
  • Create high-level operations and logistics planning for regional team projects including developing work plans and resources for event planning
  • Recommend, develop, and/or manage cross-cutting initiatives that support the region such as administering region-wide surveys, managing the regional calendar, and maintaining handbooks

Regional Responsibilities (15%)

  • Participate in region and organization-wide initiatives and events such as corps member selection, staff learning and development days, new corps member confirmation, and other events
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in an organizational learning field, or a combination of organizational learning, education, and Teach For America experience
  • Strong technology skills and ability to develop expertise in new technologies
  • A track record of managing multiple projects to completion and working with key stakeholders
  • A history of operating and leading in the spirit of our Core Values and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness
  • Data reporting skills using Excel and strong proficiency using PowerPoint to present complex information to a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, critical consciousness, and ability to work across lines of difference
  • Ability to envision, plan and project-manage multiple complex, collaborative projects simultaneously, leveraging available resources to achieve impeccable follow-through on execution
  • Influence others in a way that builds a strong, healthy culture ground in our core values, can work collaboratively across functional teams, and orient others towards our regional team vision and culture
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and to drive projects forward independently
  • Approach the work with a flexible, innovative, and service-oriented perspective

Work Demands

  • Ability to travel to event locations around the Baltimore region
  • Some weekend and evening work required
