The Y in Central Maryland is looking for a bright addition to our organization in the Executive Director, Mentoring role.

How this role contributes to the Y’s mission: As Executive Director, Mentoring, you will lead the operations of a broad portfolio of mentoring programs, including Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Y. You will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with corporate partners, funders, schools and other organizations that are mission-aligned with the Y in Central Maryland in support of Y mentoring programs and services. You will collaborate with colleagues in Youth Development, Marketing, Social Responsibility, Philanthropy and Health & Wellness to build comprehensive partnerships that materially enhance the Y’s ability to deliver impact through mentoring programs and initiatives. You will also provide direct supervision of program directors and coordinators as well as oversight to the management of the Maryland Mentor Resource Center.

Areas of Responsibility: 

As Executive Director, Mentoring, you’ll contribute to the Y and to our overall community by creating more mentor-mentee relationships that result in a lasting impact on a child’s life.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the field of business, education, human services or other related field or Master’s degree (preferred)
Skills/Experience: 

This work is right for you if you have: 

  • An interest in the well-being of school-age youth, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit
  • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, school administration and other Y associates
  • At least 10 years of experience in business, education, human services or related field, with a focus on mentoring programs
  • At least 5 years of experience managing associates
