Y associates play an integral role in the health and well-being of children, adults and families in our communities. they provide meaningful interactions through quality Y programs.

The Y Grant Site Director coordinates the Y's programming and partnership with a school, leading both the Out of School Time programming and the Community Schools Initiative. Serves as administrator of grant-funded, outcomes-based Out of School Time program for elementary, middle or high school youth. Partners with the School Principal & the School Family Council in the integration/coordination of all services and programs toward a common goal of student success.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties. 
  • Blended position that manages out of school time program and also coordinates community school efforts for elementary, middle and/or high school students located in public school building. 
  • Budget of more than $200K. 
  • Supervision of 10-25 staff.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in community organizing or experience in partnership building, effort coordination & youth, family and community development is preferred .
  • Experience managing outcomes-based, grant-funded youth programs and staff.
  • Community Resident with familiarity and experience working with target population. 
  • Knowledge of stages of youth development; familiarity with Developmental Assets preferred.
  • Knowledge of youth program quality standards, measures and instruments.
  • Possess strong background and abilities in volunteer leadership, written & oral communications and organization.
  • Experience working at an off-site location or in a public school building.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to administer outcomes-based youth program, including activities, staff and budget.
  • Proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships that support youth development, health, parental engagement, community development and academics.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and the Google Platform; and, ability to use on-line reporting systems for data entry.  
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively
  • Implement and oversee high quality, developmentally appropriate Out of School Time program that aligns with grant requirements.
  • Hire, develop, appraise, discipline and approve time and attendance for employees. 
  • Develop positive relationship with school leadership while maintaining focus on meeting job expectations.
  • Monitor staff hours and program spending to meet grant budget.
  • Provide data and narrative reports to meet weekly, monthly and quarterly grant reporting requirements.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and hold effective staff meetings.
  • Commitment to professional development and staff training.
  • Enact decisions of the School Family Council and convene monthly meetings to promote effective collaboration of service providers and partners.
  • Pursue resources for projects, including recruitment of volunteers and grant writing.
  • Serve as contact person for the school with community partners, ensuring communication between on-site partners and recruiting and communicating with partners outside of the school.
  • Plan and directs efforts to involve youth, families and community members at the school.
  • Utilize print and electronic media to build awareness of the community school among local organizations, businesses and community members.
  • Oversee parent organizing and events for school in partnership with other organizations.
  • Create and maintains procedures and schedules for community use of facilities in coordination with school principal.
  • Work with the School Family Council to create and implement Community School Action Plan, periodic needs surveys and resources mapping.
  • Serve as a mentor leader and share best practices with other site directors and community school coordinators.
