Under the direction of the District Executive Director, the Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Druid Hill Y Family Center. This position provides Cause-Driven leadership in staff supervision, volunteer management, fiscal management, financial development, membership and program administration, facility & equipment stewardship, community relations and personal-professional development.
Under the direction of the District Executive Director, the successful candidate, ideally, will possess: enthusiasm to assist and an understanding of the issues faced by inner-city youth and families; strong communication and entrepreneurial skills; presence and passion to enable productive interactions with high-profile individual and institutional donors and partners; good organizational, recruiting, and leadership skills; and an ability to handle a wide range of strategic and operating initiatives.
- Provide the vision and leadership in all aspects of the Y in Central Maryland’s mission to ensure that Druid Hill Family Y continues to flourish, grow, and improve with its new initiatives.
- Superior operational manager versed in human relations and knowledgeable about membership and programming. Will oversee the day-to-day operations and programming. She or he will provide the strategy and direction to ensure that Druid Hill Y’s programs and services are delivered in a cost-effective and efficient manner while maintaining the highest level of quality and creating an impact for our Y members and the community we serve in Baltimore City. Passionate to make a difference in an underserved population
- Understand and take responsibility for the members and community the Druid Hill Y is serving; the partners providing critical support; and the relationships with local organizations. Identify community trends and evaluate their impact on the Y’s programs and operations. Implement Association membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members
- Develop a vision for excellence with a focus on measurable results in membership and programming satisfaction. Institute a plan which evaluates various possible growth scenarios within Baltimore City
- The Executive Director will make it a priority to significantly increase support from sponsors, donors, and funders through innovative and spirited fundraising (Annual Giving, Capital Campaigns, Sponsorships, Partners). In addition the ED will be an advocate and articulate spokesperson for Druid Hill and the Y in Central Maryland. She or he will collaborate with other organizations, as well as other inner-city Y’s across the nation to enhance the impact and offerings for both sides
- Lead with an inspirational strategic vision that fully embraces the mission, while keeping a finger on the pulse internally of day-to-day operations, services and programming. Grow and broaden a sound and diversified funding base from individual sponsors, foundations, and corporations. Work with the Association Office and Philanthropy team, while partnering with the District Executive Director and the Community Leadership Board to identify, plan, and execute innovative ways to raise money. Most importantly, ensure fiscal sustainability and create a long-range development plan
- Attract, build, lead and evaluate a highly motivated, cause-driven, responsible team with a common vision, a sense of purpose, and shared objectives. Set benchmarks with associates, hold them accountable, and develop appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Develops, manages, and monitors center operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Initiates and manages adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations
- Ensure that programs and operations are effective and efficient and meet and/or exceed organizational goals.
- Monitors trends and relevant issues in the community to identify ways the Y can make an impact or be more visible. Engage members, community and other stakeholders around the Y’s activities. Build upon existing partnerships and seek new strategic alliances to promote the Y’s mission and work
- Ensure safety, cleanliness and function of all related facilities and equipment
- Ensure all program operations are consistent with association policies and procedures, including emergency, insurance, accident, purchasing, personnel, accounting and other administrative systems
- Assist in all areas, project teams, and duties as assigned by supervisor
- Strong business operations background with a proven track record for producing growth and strong financial management
- Five or more years of successful management experience in the Health & Wellness, recreation, and youth programming field, preferably in a Y.
- Supervision of 3,000+ unit (unit defined as household) Y or related health and wellness center that provides services to all age groups.
- Supervision of full and part time employees and accountability of annual budget exceeding $2.5 million
- Proven record of leading and aligning teams to a clearly articulated vision, mission, and strategic plan, which advance a cohesive, positive, and productive culture
- Ability to lead assigned operations including staff development and supervision, development and monitoring of budgets, membership and program development, financial development, marketing and public relations, board and volunteer development
- Requires ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment, to assess facts and issues, and make non-routine decisions regarding day-to-day operational problems and issues
- Requires effective team-building and team-leadership skills
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
- Y Organizational Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred
Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
