In collaboration with the California Southland Executive Director and other staff, the Regional Director will organize, plan, staff and direct the operation of revenue generation, program activities, mass market events, and Advisory Board in the Kern and Tulare county region. The Regional Director will monitor and evaluate program and development activities to ensure best practices are utilized and strategic plans are fully executed within the local community in order to achieve the goals of the Chapter.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and implement objectives and goals aimed at the effective delivery of regional programs and services, including mass market and other special events, revenue generation, communications, marketing, advocacy, public policy and community mobilization activities.
  • Ensure the effective planning and implementation of key fundraising events including the Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, RivALZ and other chapter events.
  • Provide volunteer leadership to ensure successful programs and events, including identifying, recruiting and cultivating volunteers to participate and lead support groups, educational programs and signature events.
  • Provide sound fiscal management for the Kern/Tulare County office, including monitoring the income and expense budgets, providing monthly financial reports and evaluating income performance.
  • In collaboration with other key staff, identify, cultivate and steward current and prospective major gifts donors and develop an annual fundraising plan.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to Chapter staff and volunteers, including promoting an environment of transparency, inclusion and teamwork.
  • Develop and maintain a local Advisory Board to support the Alzheimer's Association’s mission in Kern/Tulare Counties.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of five years of related experience in nonprofit management, volunteer engagement, fundraising, program implementation and community engagement
  • A minimum of five years of experience supervising staff, including at least three years of experience managing and mentoring staff in volunteer management
  • Knowledge of voluntary health agency administration including program management, community organization, fundraising and marketing
  • Ability to apply effective management principles and practices to the interviewing, supervising, training, appraising and motivating of staff
  • Ability to lead, guide and inspire staff and volunteers to achieve goals and objectives while demonstrating and promoting open communication, transparency and teamwork
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present in large and small groups
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiation and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally as needed to perform job duties
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software and databases
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
