Under the direction of District Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for the development, management, supervision and coordination of branch, facility, and business operations and direct supervision of the Quality Service, Aquatics and Health and Wellness functions. This position will also help with board development, and all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the goals and mission of the YMCA of Austin.

Areas of Responsibility: 

General Duties:

  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA five core values and Y Voice
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a professional, friendly, and timely manner
  • Serve as an exempt staff member to the YMCA of Austin, performing duties as assigned by District Executive Director and President/CEO of the YMCA. 
  • Actively and enthusiastically support the Branch and Association goals through effective completion of tasks and verbal display to peers, staff, members and guests. 

Specific Duties:

  • Supervision & Leadership
    • Employ, train, evaluate and supervise staff for designated areas (Quality Service, Aquatics and Health & Wellness)
    • Create an atmosphere, which encourages maximum staff growth, inspires individual contribution and emphasizes teamwork.   Follows the personnel policies, practices and salary administration plans.
  • Operational Leadership
    • Plan, review and evaluate designated branch, facility, and business operations for the branch. Establish sound business operations and practices across all branch departments
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with branch vendors and contractors
    • Develop, monitor and adhere to all budgets in designated facility and program areas. Responsible for monthly reports on income/expense for each designated program & meeting and/or exceeding revenue & expense targets in designated departments
    • Establish a comprehensive preventative, maintenance, and cleanliness program for the branch.  Coordinate this plan with the all departments to ensure it is implemented professionally and effectively with key focus to provide excellent member service. Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors to ensure all inspections/certifications, facility management guidelines and projects are completed by set protocols and deadlines.
    • Lead the review for the preventative safety and maintenance plan for the branch.  Assist the other Associate ED in ensuring all program areas are adhering to best practices, highest level of quality and safety.  Make revisions when needed, communicate updates, and ensure trainings and audits are completed
    • Lead implementation of branch risk management plan
  • Strategic Support and Board Development
    • Assist other Associate ED in leading the Annual Support campaign with focus on securing gifts from vendors
    • Lead at least one of the Board Task groups
    • Assist the District Executive Director in all aspects of board development including recruitment and orientation
    • Assist with the implementation of branch strategic plan.
  • Co-lead branch operations with other Associate ED
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university focusing in recreation management, education, child development, or related field is preferred.
Skills/Experience:

  • Experience – 6+ years of professional experience, including staff management is required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Demonstrated maturity and leadership skills
    • Experience or aptitude in supervising employees
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of member relations system and/or database
    • Proficient in a Windows computer environment, including Microsoft Office applications
    • Knowledge of communications and marketing
    • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
    • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines
    • Ability to take and provide direction, work well with others
    • Ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance basics
    • Ability to manage projects and coordinate events in conjunction with other staff members and volunteers in order to achieve long and short-range goals of the Association.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of members, participants, or employees of the Association
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $57,000.00 - $65,000.00
