The KV YMCA has an exciting and unique career opportunity. We are seeking to fill the role of a Youth Program Director , who also runs our Camp KV Day Camp on Maranacook Lake in Readfield during the summer months.

Ideal candidate would have camp experience, experience working with youth, supervisory experience, and above all else, someone who is energetic, creative and a self starter!

Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA Youth & Camp KV Day Camp programs(s).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates all aspects of Youth & Family, camp and after school youth programs for the association. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic plan.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that Y best practice program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state camp licensing, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Works with and provides data for grants when requested
  • Organizes special events for parents. Assists in Y fund raising activities.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk to hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children’s activities.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Evening and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $33,000.00 - $34,000.00
