The Wilson Family Y branch is Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's largest branch. With over 15,000 members, this is THE branch to take the next step in your career and grow! The Membership Services Director is responsible for new member sales, member retention, and supervision of assigned staff. The Director develops, plans, and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals in membership sales and retention. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implements membership sales strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members of a large $4M branch.
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve sales goals and retention goals. Create a personalized staff development plan for all membership service staff.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members and possible corporate partners.
  • Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration.
  • Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances. 
  • Supervises the Business Office Manager to ensure membership revenue, past due balances, credit card returns/expirations and scholarship policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.
  • Work with the Business Office Manager to ensure proper front desk training on collections, past due balances and scholarships.
  • Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. 
  • Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
  • Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
  • Develop and maintain good community relations with businesses in the branch service area and increases business involvement in the branch that directly relates to increased membership sales and retention.
  • Become a YUSA trainer in membership courses.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • YMCA experience preferred.
  • Sales experience with demonstrated growth and ability to achieve sales targets.
Compensation/Benefits: 

 

Salary: $30,861.00 - $34,781.00
