Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Senior Director will plan, administer and evaluate the Membership, Wellness, Child Care and Aquatics departments.  This position is primarily responsible for the design and implementation of the branch and for the successful achievement of branch revenue targets related to membership.

The Villages at Carver Family YMCA is located in Southwest Atlanta.  This facility has 55,000 square ft. Special programs include Movers and Shakers Senior Program, After School Program, Teen Program and Coach Approach. Built in 2007, it has 1600 units and serves the Pryor Road community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, supervise, and evaluate the department programs and employees and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement a plan to attract and recruit new members and corporate partnerships.
  • Conduct pilots for new programs; develop plans and manage best practices through engagement of the staff team.
  • Effectively manage budgets; hold staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress.
  • Foster a climate of innovation.
  • Monitor progress towards branch’s goals by running and reviewing all necessary reports.
  • Lead the Y’s presence at community outreach, including special events.
  • A working knowledge of YMCA principles of fitness and wellness.  This includes committing to be a conduit for members eligible to participate in the Coach Approach process and supporting the wellness department in the success of this key initiative.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provide ongoing support to the Associate Executive Director on related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Association key departments to lead, coordinate and support implementation of key initiatives related to marketing, social media and communications, human resources and financial development.
  • Serve as a key staff leader to the annual fundraising campaign.
  • Additional duties based on Branch needs.
  • Provide leadership to the branch board membership committee.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years related sales, marketing experience and training and development of high performing teams.
  • Must have a background in staff team development and relationship management.
  • Seeks, cultivates and supervises volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Hands on experience with utilizing data to make an informed decisions.
  • Personal commitment to service and hospitality.
  • If internal to the YMCA, must have a minimum YMCA Team Leader certification.
