The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is a non-profit membership organization that serves the needs of tree care professionals, and promotes the profession of arboriculture around the world. The Examinations Specialist executes all credentialing exam processes, exam creation, proctor/evaluator processing and training, and chapter reporting. Assists the Examinations Manager with exam creation and shares committee support responsibilities.

Areas of Responsibility: 

• Understands ISA’s Vision Statement and adheres to ISA staff core values.

• Adheres to ISA processes to ensure consistent service to the customers.

• Answers phone calls and provides answers to general certification questions.

• Prepares exam materials for shipment.

• Scores the exam materials using computer software.

• Ensures all score reports are accurate after grading takes place.

• Facilitates and distributes exam score information to candidates both directly, as necessary, and by managing the results process with our third party print provider.

• Provides a detailed inventory of all exam booklets.

• Works with computer based testing vendor to upload and process candidate results.

• Transposes computer based testing results into a format that can be uploaded into testing software to record question statistics.

• Serves as secondary administrator for certification testing software.

• Processes re-grade requests by hand grading exams.

• Works directly with Components to set up exam dates.

• Manages the exam dates on the ISA website.

• Processes all Proctor and Evaluator Applications.

• Monitors Proctor Training to ensure only active Proctors may hold exams.

• Assists in creating and managing exam development processes for psychometrically-sound exam content that reflects program goals.

• Assists with or takes the lead in the creation and finalizing of new annual exams.

• Assists in the analysis and interpretation of survey tools and results and apply data to program needs.

• Serves as the secondary contact with the ISA BCMA & Certification Test Committee, managing new committee member orientations and providing the appropriate statistical analysis so that the committee can review and improve exam performance. Works with the committee chair to develop agendas and meeting materials. Takes minutes, processes approvals, and publishes to appropriate parties.

• As requested, assists Examinations Manager with other projects i.e. exam material translations.

• Provides support up to and including facilitating meetings, when needed, for certification test committee meetings.

Educational Background: 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
An associate degree in a related field and/or technology classes and experience are preferred.
At least three years’ experience working with detailed tasks in an office environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of additional education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 

Language Skills

• Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Fluency in additional languages is a plus.

• Ability to write and speak in a professional manner.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret spreadsheets.

• Ability to respond (orally and in writing) to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret candidate performance data (mean, p-value, and point bi-serial); develop and articulate overall candidate performance to profession both orally and in writing.

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to department and committees.

Decision Making/Reasoning Ability

• Needs strong demonstrated skills in problem solving and attention to detail.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Additional Competencies

• Ability to convert computer based testing vendor result files into file formats that both the database and test banking software can import.

Technology and Equipment

• Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2007 and/or 2010; proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook

Compensation/Benefits:
