The Impact and Learning Manager will work closely with the Chief Strategy and Governance Officer to develop and implement an organization-wide approach to planning, evaluation and learning in AIUSA that drives stronger impact on human rights and organizational priorities. The Impact and Learning Manager will be a thought partner for staff and will cultivate staff capacity for effective project planning, monitoring and evaluation. The person will be a key contributor in building an organizational culture that utilizes learning and innovation to help deliver meaningful outcomes.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assess AIUSA’s capacity and needs in the area of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), and work with Chief Strategy and Governance Officer and key stakeholders to develop a MEL strategy and framework that advances AIUSA’s impact on human rights and organizational goals.
- Build the commitment and capacity of staff to design plans that are aligned with AIUSAstrategic objectives and are informed by evidence about actions with greatest potential to achieve positive change.
- Lead the design and implementation of systems that advance assessment of project performance.
- Improve organization-wide impact through development of sustainable knowledge management processes, tools, and practices to harness learning for more effective planning.
- Design and conduct internal evaluations of AIUSA projects, and oversee evaluations conducted by external researchers, partners or consultants.
- Monitor MEL advancements in the NGO sector so that AIUSA’s performance systems benefit from proven best practices.
- Manage other projects that are assigned, as needed.
Educational Background:
A college degree or equivalent work experience in an area related to learning, monitoring and evaluation is required.
Skills/Experience:
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to listen to and communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Skilled in quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Demonstrated flexibility and openness in responding to changing work priorities
- Ability to problem solve and to work well independently and with multidisciplinary teams
- Adept at project management
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of time
- Ability to give and receive constructive criticism to enhance learning and professional development

Education & Experience
- Experience with designing and implementing M&E systems for advocacy-oriented organizations
- Experience with designing and delivering training for others on M&E topics
- Demonstrated experience with fostering a MEL culture within an organization
- Cultural competence for interacting effectively with a diverse range of people
- Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in learning, evaluation and impact assessment.
