The Director of Development (DD) will support our regional campaign to raise $6 - $8 million dollars in operating revenue annually. The DD will report to the Managing Director of Development and work closely with the Executive Director to execute the regional strategic and operating plans for development, ensuring that the region maximizes opportunities, meets its goals, and significantly grows funding while building long-term sustainability.  The DD will join a talented team of leaders and also build meaningful relationships with a broad portfolio of investors and prospects, with a focus on the region’s relationship with corporations and individual donors. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Primary Responsibilities
Development Strategy and Execution Support (40%)

  • Support the Executive Director and Managing Director of Development in executing the strategy and tactics to meet or exceed year-over-year and five-year strategic goals, including:
  • Analyzing the interests of donors and prospects to develop compelling pitches, engagement strategies and stewardship plans
  • Conducting excellent donor interactions and communications (e.g. meetings, events, newsletters, grants, etc.)
  • Developing and maintaining strong operations (e.g. donor-tracking systems, data management, meeting-prep and downloads, gift processing, etc.)
  • Cultivating new relationships and managing those from nascent to ardent partner
  • Prioritizing key actions for the executive director to take in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors through external meetings, events and correspondence, etc.
  • Support comprehensive records in TFACT, the content management system, on the status of funder relationships, moves management, gift processing, etc.

Portfolio Management (40%)

  • Manage a portfolio of donors, including individuals and key corporate and foundation investors who are integral to the region’s strategic direction, to secure gifts ranging from $5000 - $99,900.
  • Support the executive director in regional advisory board execution, including helping to:
  • Preparing for and participating in board meetings as needed
  • Liaising with board members on specific projects or activities and corresponding with board members as needed

Marketing and Communications (20%)

  • Manage all mass communications, both traditional and web-based, to shape the regional brand and ensure communications consistency to corps members, alumni and partners.  (newsletters, blogs, etc.)
  • Visit corps member classrooms, alumni in action and other programming opportunities to ensure authentic experience with TFA – Metro Atlanta’s direct-service and widespread-impact work.
  • Lead the marketing and communication aspects of major events and other development campaigns (ideas may include charity sporting events, alumni-giving campaigns, web-based giving programs, signature galas, etc.)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 

Requirements
Prior Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (i.e. development, fundraising, non-profit)
  • Experience in Metro Atlanta highly preferred
  • Proven achievement and ability in the areas of annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, planned gifts, special events and in-kind contributions (quantifiable financially)
  • Demonstrated experience with the prospect and donor management capabilities of current fundraising software applications like Salesforce.com or similar CRM system

Work Demands

  • Willing and able to work some early mornings, evenings or weekends when that furthers team or regional goals
  • Willing and able to travel 2-3 times per year for professional development purposes
  • Willing and interested in contributing to evening or weekend regional or corps-member events that support regional programming and add to real-time context

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
