The Georgia State Office of AARP is looking for an undergraduate intern with the energy, drive, skill set and ability to pick things up quickly to help change the dialogue on some of the most important issues to the most powerful voting demographic in the state and nation: the 50+.
We’re seeking a digitally savvy intern to assist in reaching media, organizations, communities, and influencers throughout the state. You will conduct research, draft press releases, engage media outlets and reporters, work on social media and blog posts, and compile and track print & digital metrics.
Throughout your internship, you will be connecting with members, volunteers, and staff so that you can understand and help share the full story of our work across Georgia. You may be asked to shoot video and take photos at events; interview people with stories to share; and research and write media advisories, blogs, and social media posts. This internship is highly customizable depending on you and your creativity
- Prefer a Public Relations major (or related discipline) with a background in newspaper writing/reporting and PR/media relations strategy. The chosen candidate will be proficient in AP Style, writing various materials, including news releases/advisories, blogs and web content. In addition, the candidate should also be familiar with using a digital camera or taking excellent camera photos that will be used to enhance AARP's social media presence. Attention to detail, critical thinking, adaptability and resourcefulness are key and highly sought-after attributes
