Under the direction of the Properties Director and Executive Leadership and consistent with the Y’s mission and values, the Property Coordinator is responsible for the completion of preventative maintenance plan, projects, and general repairs of facilities and vehicles of the Asheville YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and general repairs of HVAC boilers, pumps, motors, small engines, vehicles, pools, and fitness equipment as relevant.
  • Repair and upgrade of facilities, grounds and vehicles as directed.
  • Perform specific tasks as needed inside and outside of the facility including painting, construction, landscaping, sweeping, washing, digging, and shoveling.
  • Utilize Facility Dude and/or other software for tracking of daily projects, assignments and preventative maintenance.
  • General upkeep of the grounds to ensure that litter, equipment, and debris is out of sight and properly stored.
  • Assist member services staff with member complaints, issues, phone calls, or other information as needed.
  • Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision.
  • Serve effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff and members when a director is not in the building.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, members, program participants, volunteers, and other individuals within the community always being mindful of the YMCA’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Bring facility-related concerns to the attention of the Property Director and Executive Leadership.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving risk management issues.
  • Complete all appropriate paperwork regarding incidents and accidents.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with appropriate individuals.
  • Serves as a member of the Manager on Duty rotation at the Asheville center, ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
  • Assist with Annual Campaign, as assigned.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA.
  • This position requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the maintenance of a commercial facility.
  • Individual must have experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, grounds upkeep, preventative maintenance and HVAC.
  • Other experience preferred but not required are pool upkeep, both chemistry and mechanical, and painting skills.
  • Be able to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) status for our pool based facilities if needed.
  • Be able to obtain YUSA Maintenance Management certification and other required trainings shared during onboarding timeframe.
  • Be able to obtain CDL if needed.
  • This person must be able to problem solve, provide leadership to other maintenance staff and be able to work unsupervised.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $17.00 - $21.00
