The Program Director is responsible for the multi-site management of the 21st Century middle school programs. The Program Director has oversite of programs and staff development, supervises site staff and communicates with school personnel, community partners and parents. Additionally, the Program Director works closely with the CFO and the finance department to ensure effective grant management, and coordinates with state agencies for tracking and achievement of grant goals. Supports community outreach and advisory groups through consistent communication and quarterly meetings with direct participation of senior leadership staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision
- Maintain a positive work environment for staff that includes adequate training recognition/rewards
- Support full funding opportunities through existing grants and partnerships.
- Engage stakeholders and community members in Community Development programming
- Provide support to partner organizations and subcontractors to ensure effect programming
- Ensure that each site maintains and utilizes current paperwork and documentation
- Follow and maintain behavior management policies outlined by YMCA of WNC Child Care Services and adhere to YMCA of WNC Child Abuse Prevention guidelines and the Code of Conduct
- Maintain open communication with school personnel in regards to daily operations and concerns, in addition to the curriculum needs the teachers/principal feel are important
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and school personnel as well as supporting marketing opportunities that support communication efforts.
- Maintain program standards according to the YMCA Mission-Driven Quality Promises, the Y-USA School Age Program Guidelines, and the National AfterSchool Association
- Address concerns and demands of parents, subcontractors, and school administration regarding difficult situations and troubleshoot with administration toward effective outcomes
- Participate in YMCA of WNC’s leadership team, attend required meetings, and actively support the engagement of YMCA of WNC’s 2020 vision
Skills/Experience:
- College Degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) from an accredited body of higher education. Strong consideration is made in the event that a candidate has received at least 15 hours of credit in education and two years working with children in a childcare setting
- Understanding and knowledge of children of all ages, their behavior and development, and the ability to use this knowledge as a resource with staff with specific knowledge in the development of age-appropriate curriculum activities and use of appropriate behavior management techniques and the ability to transfer this knowledge to staff
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint
- Organizational skills relating to handling documents and related paperwork
- Current certifications in CPR and First Aid are required prior to the first day of employment at the designated after school program site. Certifications renewals are required as needed.
- Supervisory and administrative skills including supervision of full-time staff, site staff and effective administration of the program at designated site locations
- Ability to provide leadership in accordance with the YMCA mission to other YMCA site staff.
- A professional demeanor and exceptional interpersonal skills
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $35,500.00 - $40,000.00
