Under the direction and supervision of the VP of Youth Development, the K-12 Director of Operations is responsible for multi-site management of YMCA’s elementary afterschool and summer camping programs.
In addition to being responsible for the daily operations of sites, she/he will relate directly to afterschool staff, parents, students, community partners, and school personnel. The position is responsible for staff schedules, site and staff documentation/paperwork, program quality/development, staff training/development, and maintaining school and community relationships. She/he will work directly with other K-12 Program Directors to promote quality programming, evaluations and assessments and with the School Age Program Coordinators to support logistics of programs at sites. Schedule includes overseeing day-to-day operations of individual sites and implementation of extended care programming and health initiatives at one community hub site

- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other appropriate individuals
- Interview, train, mentor, supervise, and monitor full time and part time site staff according to YMCA guidelines and maintain a positive work environment for staff that includes recognition/rewards
- Support full funding opportunities through existing grants and partnerships.
- Engage stakeholders and community members in Community Development programming and disseminate evaluations
- Provide support to partner organizations and subcontractors to ensure effect programming
- Ensure that each site maintains and utilizes current paperwork and documentation
- Follow and maintain behavior management policies outlined by YMCA of WNC Child Care Services and adhere to YMCA of WNC Child Abuse Prevention guidelines and the Code of Conduct
- Maintain open communication with school personnel in regards to daily operations and concerns, in addition to the curriculum needs the teachers/principal feel are important
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and school personnel as well as supporting marketing opportunities that support communication efforts.

- Maintain program standards according to the YMCA Mission-Driven Quality Promises, the Y-USA School Age Program Guidelines, and the National After School Association
- Address concerns and demands of parents, subcontractors, and school administration regarding difficult situations and troubleshoot with administration toward effective outcomes
- Assist with other projects or activities as needed to support Community Development programs.
- Engage with community partners to promote YMCA collaborations throughout western NC partnerships, supporting additional programming as needed
- Participate in YMCA of WNC’s leadership team, attend required meetings, and actively support the engagement of YMCA of WNC’s 2020 vision
- Oversee the management of the hours and wages of hourly program staff according to the department’s budget. Any overtime must be pre-approved by the VP of Youth Development
- Strong consideration is made in the event that a candidate has received at least 15 hours of credit in education and two years working with children in a childcare setting
- Understanding and knowledge of children of all ages, their behavior and development, and the ability to use this knowledge as a resource with staff with specific knowledge in the development of age-appropriate curriculum activities and use of appropriate behavior management techniques and the ability to transfer this knowledge to staff
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint
- Organizational skills relating to handling documents and related paperwork
- Current certifications in CPR and First Aid are required prior to the first day of employment at the designated after school program site. Certifications renewals are required as needed.
- Supervisory and administrative skills including supervision of full time staff, site staff and effective administration of the program at designated site locations
- Ability to provide leadership in accordance with the YMCA mission to other YMCA site staff.

Salary: $39,000.00 - $43,000.00
