The Center Director is a key member of senior leadership within the YMCA of Western North Carolina. The Center Director is guided by the Executive Director, YMCA operating principles, Association Leadership Norms and must operate in a manner consistent with our organizational values. The Center Director is responsible for the direct leadership and development of the Y at Mission Pardee Health Campus, located in Fletcher, North Carolina, serving both south Asheville and north Henderson County communities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Contributes to the overall Y mission of strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
- Sets operational and performance goals for assigned association services/staff which are achievable and aligned with long-term goals and strategies.
- Works with aligned community agencies to build collaborations that advance our mission and enhance community impact.
- Provide leadership for and develop Community and Center Advisory Committees to ensure the communication and continuity of the Association Board of Director's vision is delivered at your center. Identify and recruit volunteers as terms expire.
- Drive Financial Development in Annual fundraising campaigns in service to the region.
- Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential funding sources, both private and public.
- Ensure safe, sound and effective operations of the Y at Mission Pardee Health Campus.
- Through support of the membership/healthy living teams, execute plans in alignment with established vision of the membership and healthy living cabinets.
- Direct and enhance the quality and innovation of the member experience in an effort to improve retention, cross pollination and membership growth.
- Ensure branding, communication and marketing meet Association standards and portray the voice of the YMCA.
- Represent and articulate the Association’s Healthy Living and Membership strategies and programs to individuals and organizations throughout the community, developing collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
- Support advancement of the YMCA of WNC’s community wide membership initiatives ensuring the successful roll out of membership pathway strategies, development and implementation of workplace wellness products and sustaining engagement strategies at the center level.
- Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events.
- Serve on the YMCA senior leadership team ensuring that the Y at Mission Pardee Health Campus is aligned with strategic objectives.
- Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, collaborations, partnerships, and grant/funding opportunities.
- Champion the development, implementation and stewardship of innovative programs that maximize the impact of the YMCA.
- Provide vision, strategy and leadership for the Membership, Healthy Living and Youth Development at the Y at Mission Pardee Health Campus.
- Maintain the quality and ensure that the needs of the members and the community are met within the center.
- Provide strong recruitment, development, and succession planning processes to insure the hiring, professional development and retention of high quality staff. Develop strategies to motivate and achieve goals.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Assists with interpreting Association goals, objectives, and policies to the community and direct-reports.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of programs and trends. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs and employ corrective strategies as needed.
- Respond to member and participant concerns in a timely manner, addressing both customer service and safety concerns.
- Meet regularly with direct reports to check-in, coach and ensure up to date knowledge of happenings in each department.
- Represent and articulate the Association’s Healthy Living and Youth Development strategies and programs to individuals and organizations throughout the community, developing collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
- Develop operational budgets and ensure proper fiscal standards are followed in all departments.
- Monitor monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled. Complete variance reports and forecast updates monthly. Adjust operations as needed to achieve fiscal targets.
- Fosters a climate of innovation and collaboration to develop member-focused programs and leads assigned staff in the planning, development and implementation of new and innovative, cutting edge program initiatives and activities.
- Ensures the implementation of the Association's risk management program to ensure safe facilities and programs for members, volunteers and staff.
- Ensures that all the policies of the organization are implemented, including Financial, Human Resources, and Program Policies.
- Provides leadership to other areas as assigned.
- Five or more years of related experience including leader and volunteer supervision, community program development, financial management and fund raising.
- Broad knowledge of programs and proven experience in building communities within a center structure.
- Experience in setting high standards, motivating a team, seeks out personal development opportunities and ways to develop others with strong growth in previous positions/programs.
- Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the roles of volunteers and staff.
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.) with examples of inclusion and equity.
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
Salary: $45,000.00 - $49,000.00
