Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Manager of Aquatics is responsible for the effective operation of swim programs and pool operations of the aquatics department at the Black Mountain YMCA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: program operation, program development and growth, participant satisfaction, participant and member retention and safety, community collaborations, and staff supervision. The Program Manager is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and service to YMCA members and participants in partnership with a larger team. They are a vital member of YMCA leadership team and a highly visible representative of the YMCA mission, core values and are accountable for knowing and properly executing all YMCA policies and procedures.
- Contributes to the overall Y mission of strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
- Interacts professionally with other employees, members, program participants, volunteers, and the community, always modeling the YMCA’s voice and core values.
- Performs quality work within given deadlines and expectations with direct supervision.
- Supports the hiring, training, and supervision of staff within department.
- Follows established policies and procedures to ensure quality onboarding prior to first shift.
- Adheres to department’s budget. Any overtime must be pre-approved by supervisor.
- Assists in the facilitation of department staff meetings as needed. Continually communicates with and informs staff about YMCA programs and current issues.
- Contributes to the creation of department targets and evaluate performance around achieving goals while motivating staff.
- Adheres to the Association’s risk management program to ensure safe facilities and programs for members, volunteers and staff.
- Ensures emergency preparedness through the regular execution of emergency drills and department assessment.
- Ensures all staff members maintain required certifications and are aware of the expiration dates of their current certifications.
- Monitors purchase and maintain necessary equipment through scheduled and preventative maintenance.
- Contributes to the creation of annual department budget. Elevates trends and provide accurate forecasts. Ensures programs operate within budget and established standards. Continuously displays effective and efficient fiscal management.
- Attends and actively participates in all required staff training, meetings, and program development activities.
- Supports the strategic direction of the association and appropriate committees and work groups.
- Performs office work as needed such as filing, copying, record keeping, and payroll completion. Ensures all necessary paperwork and forms are accurately completed.
- Supports relationships with key partners, and other collaborative organizations and agencies related to portfolio. Responds to all participant and community inquiries in a timely manner.
- Develops committed relationships. Shares knowledge of programs, events and resources with members and participants throughout the facility and within the community when representing the YMCA.
- Supports Annual Campaign by ensuring all staff is asked to give and provide a reply; collects and shares stories of Y impact and engages department team in support of or campaign efforts.

- Is responsible for other duties as assigned.
- One or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency is preferred.
- Ability to direct operations through supervision of staff/volunteers, monitoring and adhering to a budget, program promotion, and program development.
- Leader certification preferred, or obtained within two years from date of hire.
- CPR/First Aid/Oxygen certifications required.

- YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor (Parent/Child, Preschool, and Adult)
Hourly: $15.00 - $16.00
