The Sr. Information Technology Project Manager builds and implements strategies that enhance the Project Management Office (PMO) structure and oversight, including the Information Technology portfolio of business transformation initiatives to maximize its value and contribution to the Conservancy’s strategy. Resource mentors’ other PMO staff and leads large scale, highly complex business–critical IT projects or multiple medium scale complex projects.The Sr. Information Technology Project Manager builds and implements strategies that enhance the Project Management Office (PMO) structure and oversight, including the Information Technology portfolio of business transformation initiatives to maximize its value and contribution to the Conservancy’s strategy. Areas of Responsibility: 

The Sr. Information Technology Project Manager defines and implements strategies that can build and enhance the IT PMO performance and articulate PMO strategic direction and imperatives across IT and Business teams for how they support the Conservancy’s strategy. Provides input into the PMO strategic direction to establish near term and long-term goals. Consistently seeks to identify process improvements and new ways to increase PMO efficiency through assessing performance, instilling simplification strategies, reinventing or modifying broken processes, and addressing historical perceptions and expectations. They support the establishment and maintenance of the IT PMO including operational oversight, the end-to-end program/project lifecycle means and methods, training and mentoring and communications and adoption of the PMO activities. They support the IT portfolio management activities to optimize the value and benefits to the Conservancy through alignment with the end-to-end means and methods, verifying initiatives/programs/projects strategic alignment and business benefits, supporting leadership prioritization of portfolio with an optimal mix and sequence of work, and ensuring decision makers receive the information needed to make decisions. They work with senior management to develop and enhance IT strategies, methodologies, processes and standards, create templates, and selects and implements project management tools.  They research and incorporate industry best practices as appropriate for IT and the PMO.

The Sr. Information Technology Project Manager manages and leads large scale, highly complex business-critical IT projects or multiple medium scale complex projects.  They establish project goals and success factors, develops project plans, budgets and schedules with input and buy-in from key stakeholders and team members.  They lead the project teams to successfully achieve those goals in the most cost-effective and time-saving manner possible.  Throughout the project lifecycle, they monitor and measure project progress, conduct corrective action as necessary, communicate project status information to all stakeholders, perform risk management, and resolve issues and controls project scope and quality. They provide project management mentorship for project leads as requested, and work with supervisors of team members to assist in their professional development.  They act as a resource to other project managers to provide project management guidance and expertise.  May manage a multidisciplinary team of professional and support staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Define and drive PMO strategic activities and alignment to the Conservancy mission and IT strategies.
  • Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals.
  • Uses considerable judgment to determine solutions and seek guidance on complex problems.
  • Provides solutions to complex PMO problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Involved in setting strategic PMO direction to establish near term goals.
  • Interact with senior management levels on behalf of the PMO that may involve negotiating or influencing direction and decisions.
  • Monitor, track and identify activities for the PMO Roadmap.
  • Define and support the build out of the PMO end-to-end means and methods, including decision trees, processes, and templates.
  • Oversee the IT Portfolio governance including addressing questions, verifying completeness and accuracy of submitted initiatives including alignment to Conservancy strategy, organizing portfolio for governance sessions and decisions, and managing the execution and follow up of governance items.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with the IT portfolio governance structures, timelines, and governance committees along with long-term strategies, expectations, and financial budgets.
  • Support the oversight of the execution of the IT portfolio by being accountable for the collection and reporting of delivery metrics including successful analysis and management of financials, schedule, resources, risk, changes and benefits realization.
  • Develop and deliver a on large or medium complex IT projects through the end-to-end lifecycle.
  • Set realistic and practical goals for the project and develop appropriate strategies for achieving these goals.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal groups and outside consultants, supervise process and maintain integrity of organizational technology standards.
  • Effectively manage large, complex budgets.
  • Develop and execute an efficient internal communication strategy for ensuring communication with all levels of management.
  • Must gain cooperation from individuals or groups over whom there is no direct authority in order to accomplish program goals.
  • Well versed in industry best practices, and an ability to adapt them to TNC’s organization and culture.
  • Maintains confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally charged information.
  • Willing to travel and work longer hours as needed
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 6 years of experience in an IT environment, including:
    • 2 years providing strategy management;
    • 3 years of IT portfolio management experience; and
    • 5 years of IT project management experience and.
  • Experience using project management techniques and tools including office tools such as the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience managing a project team and the schedule and financial aspects of large highly complex projects.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Digital transformation initiatives/implementations experience highly preferred
  • Experience in leading effective teams.
  • Supervisory skills a plus.
  • Current PMP Certification strongly preferred.
  • Effectively communicates via presentations, conservations and documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly complex, large scaled projects or multiple medium scale projects in a large, decentralized organization. 
  • Experience in a global organization.
  • Critical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Results driven.
