The Senior Media Relations Manager works collaboratively with colleagues around the globe to develop, manage and implement media relations strategies and plans that facilitate comprehension, adoption and advancement of the organization’s goals and objectives. The Senior Media Relations Manager reports to the Director of Global Media Relations on the Global Communications team.
The Senior Media Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing focused visibility and/or media strategies and plans to help promote external profile, priorities, and objectives. S/he helps elevate TNC’s visibility and reputation around our global conservation priorities with top tier media audiences. S/he helps to facilitate on-going coordination and collaboration between the Global Media and Global Communications teams, and subject matter experts, spokespersons, and globally-dispersed regional and field teams to develop stories and pitches and grow relationships with key media outlets. S/he must have strong writing skills and may develop key messages, organizational storylines, and talking points for key Conservancy spokespeople, as needed. S/he actively identifies target audiences and cultivates media contacts on a local and national level. S/he develops and fosters relations with key stakeholders and media contacts in key international media markets, and manages the placement and dissemination of media information. S/he provides consultation, key placements in major outlets, media training, coaching and talking points to persons serving as spokesperson(s), as needed. S/he has knowledge about key issues in lands use, agriculture, climate change, urban conservation, ocean conservation, and/or water and insight into how to promote those issues with the media.

- Cultivate and manage relationships with top tier media outlets and reporters
- Develop, implement, and execute media relations strategies to advance organization’s goals
- Serve as a strategic partner to colleagues across the organization
- May directly or indirectly supervise staff, project teams, and/or interns
- Manages projects and evaluates and reports results, offering recommendations for corrective strategies, as needed
