The Senior Financial Analyst provides high-level financial analysis and support to senior organizational leadership for activities at the corporate, regional, departmental and/or local /business unit level.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) is responsible for providing high level financial analysis to senior management for a specific region or department, which may include multiple business units.  Assist with the design and implementation of the budget process.  They are generally responsible for the management, maintenance and reporting of financial data and/or the monitoring of management controls and processes to ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, and financial/management best practice. The SFA is a subject matter expert and serves as a resource to the organization or their organizational unit, as applicable, including as an advisor to senior level staff and must be able to communicate complex accounting or technical issues to senior leaders and staff alike in an effective manner.  They work closely with functions in Worldwide Office Finance and with other departments and organizational units as necessary for the effective functioning of their program area.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Perform financial forecasting, reporting and metrics tracking
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support
  • Analyze past trends, perform variance analysis, identify trends and make recommendations for improvements
  • Manages functional activity towards program's strategic goals
  • Works toward meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and coordinating plans and related tactics and overseeing day-to-day tasks
  • Implements and manages new initiatives
  • Manages and implements multiple projects
  • Ensures programmatic work is collaborative and well-integrated across organization
  • Assists with development of a budget and works within a budget
  • Decisions may bind organization financially and legally
  • May supervise professional and/or administrative staff, oversees day-to-day work
  • Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance
  • Reinforces consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provides support related to relevant field
  • May manage or participate in complex negotiations
  • Reports to leadership on activities
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and 7 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Analysis experience, including experience with strong quantitative skills, advanced problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in presenting complex accounting or technical issues to diverse audiences in a concise and persuasive manner and able to clearly communicate a problem as well as offer potential solutions based on sound analysis and data
  • Experience working with Accounting systems, relational databases and proficiency with advanced Excel tools such as advanced formulas for data manipulation, tables, power query, pivot tables, and formatting and recording macros
  • Experience in developing, directing and implementing multiple projects
  • Experience developing budgets, performing high level financial analysis and recommending corrective action as appropriate
  • Experience acting as a consultant/advisor to senior executives
  • Experience with GAAP and not-for-profit accounting principles, practices and regulations, including government grants accounting and reporting

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience Familiarity with international business and ability to speak, read and write in Spanish or Portuguese preferred
  • Demonstrated success in motivating and leading staff
  • Non-Profit experience preferred
  • Technical expert on complex accounting/financial issues
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated success in analyzing, manipulating and interpreting data, and developing, reporting and implementing solutions
  • Service-oriented. Courteous, personable, tactful and experienced dealing effectively with all levels of staff
  • MBA, CPA and/or CIA.
