The Principal Solutions Architect - Marketing Technology is the technology lead in planning and defining the IT solution strategy and technology platform standards for the Marketing, Development (Fundraising) and External Relations Business Units. Supported by IT business analysts and subject matter (process) experts in the business units you translate business requirements into sustainable solutions that fit within the overall enterprise architecture.
The Principal Solutions Architect - Marketing Technology is the technology lead in planning and defining the IT solution strategy and technology platform standards for the Marketing, Development (Fundraising) and External Relations Business Units. You design and integrate new, complex technology systems and solutions based on business requirements following TNC’s methodology and development best practices. You act as a lead Architect in projects and transformation programs. You perform tasks assigned as required to complete projects including requirement analysis, solution design, market (product) research, technical requirements writing and RFP support. You actively maintain the technology roadmap and keep yourself up to date with industry developments.
The Principal Solutions Architect-Marketing Technology will specifically design, select, develop and implement marketing and digital solutions as part of The Nature Conservancy’s ongoing Digital Transformation.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Analyze end-user and technology-user business requirements for technology projects with wide range of complexity at varying levels of impact on organization-wide initiatives.
- Actively maintain technology roadmap for designated business domains by staying up to date with technology trends and industry developments.
- Design and develop new, complex technology systems and solutions according to system requirements following TNC methodology and development best practices.
- Act as lead technologist on technology application maintenance projects related to application upgrades, conversions, and modifications. Performs tasks assigned as required to complete project including design, development, running specific programs, generating reports, and analyzing results.
- Analyze changing business and market circumstances and industry trends to evaluate alternatives and develop/implement solutions in response to changing business and market circumstances. Re-engineer TNC business practices as necessary.
- Assist technical support staff, Business Support Center staff, Project Managers, and users as needed by providing support for applications including diagnosing complex problems requiring extensive analysis and troubleshooting. Design and implement solutions for corrective action in consultation with user community and IT support group.
- Assist with the development of data standards in compliance with IT best practices that will facilitate integration between systems within IT and its external partners.
- May act as lead member of a Center of Excellence to acquire, maintain, expand, and convey knowledge of relevant technologies and businesses supported and serve as a mentor to other team members. Attend and possibly conduct training classes to maintain knowledge base of current technology. Review technical publications on pertinent topics.
- Provide support for production problems as assigned.
- 8 years of experience in Information Technology field with a minimum of 3 years of recent relevant experience working as a solutions architect.
- 3+ years of client-facing experience in digital product management, strategy, or marketing.
- Experience with Digital Marketing technologies and concepts such as Digital Analytics, Campaign Management, Customer Data Platforms, Data Marts, Digital Asset Management, Social Media, Web Content Management Systems and Loyalty Management Systems.
- Experience in broad technology, Digital Marketing or IT for Digital Marketing, and/or custom development projects, systems integration efforts and database systems.
- Experience with most commonly offered Cloud Services (AWS, Azure), compute, storage and familiar with designing solution architectures using serverless technologies.
- Experience analyzing highly complex system-wide technical specifications and interfaces, debugging applications programs, and producing user and technical documentation.
- Experience with designing architectures for custom applications, using front-end (JavaScript frameworks) and back-end technologies (.NET Core, NodeJS, NoSQL Databases).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate at an engineer and mid-level executive level.
- Ability to share and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language in the vernacular of each group.
- Good understanding and experience with Agile and scrum development methodologies.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology field with a minimum of 5 years working as a solution architect
- Broad technology knowledge, having worked in Digital Marketing or IT for Digital Marketing, and/or custom development projects, systems integration efforts and database systems.
- Understanding of multiple Hardware and Software Environments and be comfortable with complex learning about heterogeneous systems environments.
- Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technology-centric marketing services agency with a rapidly expanding customer base and able to present to potential prospects.
- Has previously sought out potential problems and project gaps prior to implementation and assisted with taking development projects from the initiation phase through the delivery phase and into production support.
- Non-profit experience a plus.
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
- Experience in a global organization.
