The Policy Coordinator provides administrative, research, organizing and general office support to managers and the U.S. Government Relations team of The Nature Conservancy’s External Affairs department.
The U.S. Government Relations Coordinator works on a variety of activities, which may include organizing, maintaining, and tracking files, and databases. The Coordinator is responsible for running reports, preparing for meetings, including research, preparing briefings for senior leadership, and coordinating meeting logistics. The Coordinator also assists in maintaining the team’s intranet website, drafting and editing general correspondence, and basic team administrative support. This may include independent research on public policy, legislative tracking, and other issues related to the work of The Nature Conservancy and the Government Relations Team. The Coordinator will also assist with coordinating TNC members and grassroots organizations in support of TNC legislative priorities, planning and carrying out special events, writing and editing general correspondence, policy summaries and memorandums. Support senior staff in preparing for meetings, events and conferences, helping to create presentations and other preparation activities. The Coordinator may also attend meetings representing the Nature Conservancy.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Supervises no staff but may assist to oversee the work of volunteers or interns.
- Limited financial responsibility which may include processing check requests, travel expense reports, and petty cash. May purchase equipment and supplies as provided for in the budget and in consultation with the supervisor.
- May assist with program budget preparation and monitoring.
- Performs duties under general supervision and established guidelines.
- Prioritizes work independently, working with the supervisor as needed.
- Makes day to day decisions within the scope of work assignments.
- Consults with supervisor to address any issues that affect the work of others or the program as a whole.
- Fluency in English
- Experience in general program support such as event planning, meeting preparation, data tracking and research or related experience.
- Experience with databases, spreadsheets, presentations, and other.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience appreciated.
- Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in public policy, government relations, political campaigns, business, or sustainability.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated experience with databases, website management, and records maintenance.
