The Learning Technology Specialist will join the Human Resources' Learning & Development team, to advance the development of staff to deliver results for People and Nature.  This position will be integral to the launch of a new LMS – collaborating with various internal partners to create the overall architecture, structure and administration.  In addition, they’ll design, develop, and deliver large-scale organization-wide curricula including onboarding/orientation and other relevant learning through the platform.  The specialist will be responsible for enhancing and customizing our virtual self-paced leadership development program(s).  Any other duties or responsibilities that arise as a function of the role or team priorities.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Learning Technology Specialist will be responsible for completing and organizing multiple tasks and activities to include maintaining, tracking, and reporting on key data related to the scope and priorities of the Learning and Development Program. The Learning Technology Specialist is responsible for program announcements, registrations, and coordination with program participants, administering and maintaining Learning Management Systems, and will provide assistance to all levels of personnel on various Learning & Development-related issues. They will create program materials and perform analysis and research related to program activities. They will coordinate with stakeholders for program success and may serve as the lead liaison with partners or vendors. The Specialist will communicate with staff in various programs across the Conservancy, as well as with donors, volunteers, vendors, and business relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Responds to moderately complex employee/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of aspects applicable to the Leadership Development Program.
  • Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
  • May be responsible for the work of peers on departmental project teams;
  • Ensure compliance with Conservancy policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements; Decisions may bind the organization financially or legally;
  • Financial responsibility includes purchasing, processing invoices and transfers, and negotiating and contracting with vendors, and participating in budget preparation;
  • Manage projects with several variables - set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability;
  • May participate in complex negotiations;
  • Provide input through project teams for the development and implementation of new initiatives or the improvement of existing programs;
  • Travel and work flexible hours, as needed;
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain;
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines; and
  •  Work within scope of program’s strategic goals
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years related work experience in area(s) of specialization or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience coordinating and leading projects.
  • Experience responding to HR related questions and problems from employees/management.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: database management and spreadsheet software; constructing and producing reports; data input, manipulation, and analysis.Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
  • Advanced understanding of fundamental HR concepts, processes, and services
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel
  • Experience with the management or administration of a Learning Management System.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: organizational development, adult learning theory, needs assessment, program evaluation, and administration or logistics planning of learning and training programs.
  • Experience with learning authoring tools and/or technologies to deliver learning a plus.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated;
  • Ability to implement complex processes;
  • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results;
  • Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff;
  • Experience coordinating projects;
  • Experience interpreting guidelines to achieve desired results;
  • Knowledge of current trends in the specific field;
  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks; and/or
  • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
